Aaron Silberman and Joseph McGowan to Attend ABA Forum on Construction Law 2024 Fall Meeting
Rogers Joseph O’Donnell P.C. Construction practice group co-chair Aaron P. Silberman and shareholder Joseph C. McGowan will attend the American Bar Association (ABA) Forum on Construction Law 2024 Fall Meeting on October 23-25 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The theme of the conference is “The Built Environment: Drawing on Design,” and will focus on the role and responsibility of designers in the construction process. Sessions will cover a range of issues with respect to designers, including how to negotiate design contracts, the nuances of professional liability insurance for designers, the standard of care, ethical issues raised by artificial intelligence and more.
Members of the Forum on Construction Law represent all segments of the construction industry: owners, design professionals, general contractors, construction managers, subcontractors, suppliers, insurers and sureties. The Forum’s mission is to serve the construction industry through education and leadership while “Building the Best Construction Lawyers.”
Silberman focuses his practice on construction and government contracts law, including litigation, representing contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and design professionals in the construction, defense, transportation, technology, disaster relief, telecom and service industries. Practicing since 1992, he is the former chair of the Forum on Construction Law’s Subcontractors and Suppliers Division and its Publications Committee and previously served on its Governing Committee. Silberman spoke on federal construction contracts at the 2023 Fall Meeting. He is currently editing and co-authoring a chapter in the upcoming Forum book, “False Claims in Construction (2d ed.)”.
McGowan has practiced construction law for more than 25 years, focusing on public works, government contracts, suretyship and construction-related real property disputes. He has extensive experience with bench trials, jury trials and arbitration. McGowan has represented major contractors such as Gilbane Federal, DMZ Builders, Inc., JK Communications & Construction, Inc. (a major subcontractor specializing in telecommunications), Granite Construction, Shimmick Construction and B&C Transit, Inc.
