Merri Baldwin Appointed Co-Vice-Chair, California State Bar’s Closing the Justice Gap Working Group
Merri Baldwin has been appointed Co-Vice-Chair of the California State Bar’s Closing the Justice Gap Working Group. The State Bar Board of Trustees established the Working Group to consider possible regulatory changes suggested by the Task Force on Access Through Innovation of Legal Services (ATILS) to enhance the delivery of—and access to—legal services through the use of technology, including artificial intelligence, and online legal service delivery models. The Closing the Justice Gap Working Group has been charged with exploring the development of a “regulatory sandbox” as a way to foster experimentation with innovative legal services delivery systems, and to consider possible changes in rules concerning fee-sharing with non-lawyers and other rules. The Working Group will consist of 15-17 members, including the chair and two vice-chairs.
