Robert Metzger to Share CMMC Insights at NDIA New England’s 2024 Cybersecurity Event

Events

Rogers Joseph O’Donnell shareholder Robert S. Metzger will be among the industry thought leaders addressing Defense Industrial Base professionals at the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) New England’s 2024 cybersecurity event on Sept. 10.

Metzger will speak on a panel discussing Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), which is crucial for companies in the defense space as it can determine their eligibility to bid on and win Department of Defense contracts. The certification is designed to prevent cyber threats and secure the supply chain by ensuring that all contractors meet a baseline level of cybersecurity.

The all-day event is the eighth annual gathering of its kind and will be held at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. This year’s theme is “Secure Horizons: Navigating Threats in an Era of AI and Government Enforcement.”

Metzger will speak alongside co-panelists Melanie “Kyle” Gingrich, interim executive director at the Cybersecurity Assessor and Instructor Certification Organization, and Jacob Horne, chief security evangelist at Summit 7. NDIA’s president and CEO David L. Norquist will moderate the panel.

Discounted registration is available until Aug. 31.

Metzger is considered one of the country’s leading cyber lawyers for government contractors. He has represented leading corporations such as Microsoft and five of the top 20 aerospace and defense companies in their highest-profile contracts, disputes, compliance audits and bid protests.

Washington Technology has noted that Metzger is “considered by many to be the father of the U.S. Department of Defense’s Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification,” which governs how contractors and subcontractors must secure sensitive defense information. Metzger’s work, including his contributions to the Defense Science Board task force and MITRE’s “Deliver Uncompromised” report, has helped to shape government contracting cyber and supply chain security policies.
